Lipomastia – training, treatment, surgery and health insurance

Lipomastia – what can I do about it?

Everyone has a need to look good and feel good about themselves. We want to be respected in society and desired by the opposite sex (or the same). The appearance plays a decisive role. However, when one’s appearance deviates from the norm, one often has a hard time. Exclusion and bullying are a huge problem especially in the younger years.

Men who suffer from lipomastia also face psychological obstacles and quickly lose self-confidence. If it has already come to this, it is time to take decisive action against it. Here you can find all the important information about lipomastia.

What is lipomastia

Lipomastia is the increased accumulation of fatty tissue on the male chest. The high percentage of fat makes it look feminine and opulent. Most affected are young men in puberty and those who suffer from obesity. The reason for a lipomastia is a too high body fat percentage, a disturbed hormone balance and an unhealthy way of life.

Lipomastia is also called a man’s chest and often causes ridicule and exclusion. Men who suffer from lipomastia are often ashamed of it and have problems to show themselves in public without a top.

The difference between lipomastia and gynecomastia

A term that is often used is gynecomastia. Here, too, the man develops an enlarged breast, but the causes are different. When suffering from gynecomastia, the body produces additional fat glands in the area of the breast, so that it swells, even if no fatty tissue is produced there.

In many cases, there is a mixed form of gynecomastia and lipomastia, in which additional fat glands appear and, in addition, fatty tissue is stored in the breast area due to a high percentage of body fat.

How to get rid of lipomastia

The fight against lipomastia is often long and complicated. There are two ways to fight it. One involves a plastic surgeon to take care of the problem, the other a drastic reduction of the body fat percentage. Below we describe both ways in detail.

Training to get rid of lipomastia including diet

If you suffer from lipomastia, you should first try to get rid of it in a conventional way. Get to the root of the problem and finally lose weight. You carry around too much fat and need to get rid of it. This works by radically changing the way you live your life.

Throw unhealthy foods like fast food, sugar and alcohol out of your daily routine and replace them with a healthy, varied diet. The following foods should make up the majority of your diet:

  • Meat (beef, chicken, lamb, game),
  • Fish,
  • Seafood,
  • Vegetables,
  • Fruit,
  • Nuts,
  • Nuts,
  • Dairy products.

It is especially important that you eat fewer calories than you consume. You should aim for a daily calorie deficit of about 400kcal. In this way you will constantly lose weight and fat without your body suffering from deficiency symptoms.

An extended sports program is also of great importance. I recommend you to join a gym, because it motivates you and you can find all the necessary equipment here.

In the beginning, a full body workout plan is useful. This should include the following sports exercises:

  • Pull-ups,
  • Deadlift,
  • Squats,
  • Bench press,
  • Rowing.

Also do cardio at least 2x a week. Here the treadmill, the cross trainer, or the bicycle can be used. If the weather is good, you can also go to the swimming pool or take a long walk. If you are very overweight, I do not recommend jogging as it can put too much stress on your knees.

Remove lipomastia with surgery

Fighting lipomastia with exercise and a healthy diet is too cumbersome and tedious for many people. As with regular weight loss, it requires a lot of discipline and patience.

If you want to take a shortcut, see a plastic surgeon. This can suction out the excess fatty tissue on the breast for immediate results. However, it is worth mentioning that this is not the way to fight the problem, but only its symptoms. If you do not change your life after lipomastia surgery, you will suffer from a man boob again after a short time.

If you are still interested in such a procedure, your first step should be to find a plastic surgeon in your area and contact him or her. Go to his clinic, get a first impression and get advice on your plan.

A reputable doctor will inform you of all the risks and suggest that you find a solution through other means first. Getting a second opinion is almost always a good idea.

What does lipomastia surgery cost?

How expensive the surgical procedure is depends on various factors. On the one hand, prices vary from city to city. To rent a surgical practice costs much more in Munich than in Essen, for example. These costs must be passed on to the patients. In addition, each surgeon charges a different hourly rate, which is usually based on reputation and experience.

Another factor is the aftercare offered, which can take a lot of time. After liposuction, swelling and pain are to be expected.

The costs usually amount to between 1.500€ and 3.500€.

These are not covered by health insurance. This argues that lipomastia can be eliminated without surgery and results from an unhealthy lifestyle. People who suffer from real gynecomastia will be reimbursed by health insurance after some negotiations.

Low testosterone levels are often present

Due to little exercise, industrially produced food and alcohol/drugs, the testosterone level of many men is very low, which favors lipomastia. You can raise your testosterone levels with the following:

  • A high protein intake,
  • Weight training,
  • Fresh air,
  • Exercise,
  • Sunlight,
  • Healthy sleep, .

I strongly advise you not to take testosterone supplements, because they supply the body with external hormones. It is much healthier and more sensible to stimulate the body’s own testosterone production through a healthy lifestyle.

Going to a urologist or sports medicine specialist can bring certainty to this problem.

Conclusion Lipomastia

Often lipomastia has been building up for years and sufferers have been struggling with it for a long time. You feel ashamed and have reached a high level of frustration. However, I caution against a knee-jerk reaction. It makes sense to approach the problem in a structured way and to question one’s own lifestyle habits.

Excessive alcohol consumption and lack of exercise, coupled with unhealthy foods will not only continue to fuel lipomastia in the long run, but will also cause other accompanying symptoms and diseases. So it is time to live healthier and get fit!
